Payroll Manager ( ADP Workforce Now )

Job Summary:
The Payroll Manager will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring that
pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
 
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Oversees procedures and processes and manages inquiries and requests related to preparation and
distribution of payroll.
• Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other
deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and
changes to pay rates.
• Maintains or oversees the maintenance of employee records.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best
practices.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Understanding of multi-state and multi-entity processing.
• Proficiency with mergers and acquisitions, and tax account registration process.
• Understanding of quarterly and annual tax filings; W-2s, 1099s, W-2Cs, and mandatory reporting
including ACA, EEO-1, etc.
• Familiarity with data, validation tables, and HRIS configurations, ADP Workforce Now experience
a plus.
• Knowledge of time and attendance hourly, salary, and overtime exempt protocols.
• Experience with taxation requirements including federal/state, biweekly, bonus, and supplemental
taxation.
• Understanding of earnings, deduction, and tax codes and their impact on GL reporting.
• Expertise with benefit taxability, domestic partner impact, and how premiums are
calculated.
• Knowledge of state-specific pay requirements regarding payout of paid time off (vacation/sick),
corrections related to collection of overpaid wages, wages paid in error, or advanced vacation/sick
time, and final pay processing requirements.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Skilled communicator, both in writing and verbal.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Proficient with payroll software, ADP expertise preferred.
 
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or related
field required.
• Minimum of five years of experience in payroll processing required with at least two years in a
supervisory or management role preferred.
